Who needs the stock market when you can invest in Beanie
Babies? In 1993, Ty Inc. (Ty Warner at the time) released
the original nine "Beanies", which included a frog, pig,
dog, dolphin, whale, moose, platypus, whale and lobster.
All with 'pun'tastically cute names. By 1995, a collector’s
market emerged, which eventually spawned a counterfeit market
for beanies. By the late 90s, even the FBI was cracking down
on the fake Beanie Baby market. Best use of tax dollars...ever.
